The Dr. Thiam Chokwatana Foundation is a charitable organization established by the descendants of the "Chokwatana" family and employees of the Saha Group companies. This foundation was created to carry forward the legacy of the late Dr. Thiam Chokwatana, the former president, founder, and cornerstone of the Saha Group, in providing benefits to the community.
Dr. Thiam Chokwatana began his career under challenging circumstances during the global economic downturn. At the age of just 15, he decided to leave school to help with his father’s newly opened grocery business. He worked tirelessly and diligently without complaint. Simultaneously, he pursued additional knowledge through evening classes, reading books, and studying marketing through real-life work experience. Eventually, he managed to establish his own business and succeeded, marking the beginning of the Saha Group.
Today, the foundation continues to carry out a wide range of activities, including building schools, providing scholarships and supplies to underprivileged schools in rural areas, donating money and consumer goods for public charity, supporting the poor and disaster victims, as well as engaging in activities that contribute to the welfare of the community at large.
Sahapat is committed to encouraging Thai youth to recognize the value of doing good deeds. By instilling these values from a young age, the goal is to raise good and honest citizens. This mission is promoted through the inspirational and socially constructive program "Sahapat for Kids."
The program searches for schools that emphasize nurturing students to be virtuous and moral individuals. It seeks out and interviews exemplary students who exhibit good behavior, integrity, filial piety, volunteerism, and excellence in various fields, particularly in doing good for their families and communities. The project provides knowledge on waste separation and reduction to students in participating schools. This knowledge is intended to benefit the students, their schools, and their communities. Additionally, the project teaches how to repurpose waste materials creatively and beneficially.
Besides providing education, Sahapat for Kids takes students on community service activities to promote a sense of community responsibility. This aims to enhance engagement between schools and communities and inspire Thai youth to engage more in good deeds.
Sahapat provides equal educational opportunities to all regions of Thailand through the "Sahapat Admission" project, which prepares students for university entrance exams. This project gathers tutors from top national institutions to teach exam techniques, share tips, and guide students in self-discovery for those participating nationwide.
To ensure widespread educational access, the project broadcasts live tutoring sessions via its website and provides broadband connections to schools across all 77 provinces, including remote areas. Students can also access past sessions and download study materials through www.sahapatadmission.com to guarantee equal access to knowledge for all students nationwide.
